So, it took two weeks, but finally work is sending me the reimbursement for that business trip last month. Once again, it looks like my boss just FORGOT to get around to approving it. Well, it's par for the course, at this point.

Step-father went in for another... Well, they said it's not "surgery" so much as a "procedure." But anyway, he had work done on the clots in his legs. He went in for one procedure during my business trip, but it was only for one leg. Afterwards he said his leg felt a lot better. So this time they worked on his other leg... It sounds like there's still a bit more work to be done, but it should be helping a lot. One thing he's always complained about is not being able to walk a lot, which is a problem when you're going out shopping with my mother. So hopefully now he should be able to keep up and maybe be a bit healthier too?

Yesterday, Capcom released the final two character trailers for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. They sure know how to drag out these pre-release reveals! Just two more weeks until the actual game comes out! Since I've been playing so much Dead Rising lately, I was really excited by how Frank West looks in this game. In Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, he was kind of a novelty character... Less "based on" and more "inspired by" Dead Rising. Here, he looks seriously good! So many cool nods to the Dead Rising games...

Really excited about most of the Marvel characters too. I'm still not too familiar with Cosmic Marvel, which I guess is really gaining popularity these days? But the one they showed off with Frank West was... He looked insane!!

I know with MvC3, a lot of people want some old familiar favorites from previous MvC games, but they get derided as being stuck in the 90s. I mean, it's great to have new, fresh faces in MvC3, but what's so bad about nostalgic characters? As big as Marvel is today, the 90s were AWESOME for Marvel...

I remember getting into the Marvel trading cards with my friends at school. For some reason we thought Cyclops was the coolest guy ever?? I mean, he was a leader of the X-Men and he shot beams out of his eyes. I guess it wasn't until I got older that I started finding his character more annoying... But at the same time, I guess you could never really call him a really BAD character. Just, if you knew him in real life, you might wanna knock his lights out.

It's also too bad that, in the Capcom fighting games, Cyclops was little more than a glorified Ryu (though I guess a lot of them had unimaginative movesets back then?). I really wonder what they'd do with him if he were brought into a modern fighting game... But seeing how they reworked Frank West from TvC to UMvC3 gives me confidence that they could do a great job of "redoing" a character if they wanted to. Also, Roll was really fun in TvC despite being a joke character in MvC2.

Gambit's a popular request. I believe his first appearance in Capcom fighters was actually in the crossover games! And Venom was always a favorite of mine in the comics. I miss Rogue's old ability to steal characters' moves, though. In MvC2, since there were so many characters, it got toned down to simply stealing power-ups, but in her first appearance, Rogue could actually copy moves! Like Ryu's fireball or... actually, looking back, she mostly stole fireballs. But she could also do Akuma's Raging Demon super and that was just hilarious... And Zangief's Spinning Piledriver!!

But I dunno. A lot of people think Ms. Marvel would be a great addition, and she's where Rogue got many of her powers from...

I wonder, though, how many more characters COULD they add to this game? MvC2 had 56, but many of those were poor copy-paste jobs in an unbalanced and unpolished (yet still fun) game. MvC3, to its credit, has a lot more effort poured into it. I wonder how far they could push this but keep the same level of quality and balance? With Ultimate MvC3, it's going to be 50. Supposedly, the dev team wanted to go for 58 (beating the old roster by 2), but had to cut back due to time constraints. Who would those other 8 have been?? So maybe we could get another 8 somewhere down the line, at the least?

This seems like the kind of thing that can go on forever. There's no shortage of characters that people would want to see. Off the top of my head I can think of... the Fantastic Four, Ms. Marvel, Black Panther, Cyclops, Gambit, Rogue, Nightcrawler, Psylocke, Scarlet Witch, Green Goblin, Venom, Carnage, Doctor Octopus, Black Cat, Mysterio, Blade, Luke Cage, Songbird... But on the Capcom side, I dunno! It's not as if they've run out of characters, but they've got most of the popular requested ones already. I think all that's left is Gene from God Hand, MvC vets like Jin and Captain Commando, and of course Mega Man (I personally still can't believe there's no Mega Man).

Black Cat is a favorite of mine, but I'd also like to see Hope Summers. And I miss Cable from MvC2. I wonder if Marvel has big plans for them in the comics next year, and if that could boost their chances for appearing in this game? Haha, in comics, nobody stays dead for long... Anyway, that's over 20 Marvel characters I rattled off without thinking about it. IF they were all added to the game and they got 20 matching Capcom characters... Adding to the current roster, that'd end up being a total of 90. Yikes!! Almost 100 characters! Would such a thing be possible?

Anyway, it's fun to think about... Just two more weeks to go!!
