Today's been kind of a draining day... This morning I played and wrapped up Braid, then did some chores around the place. I think I fell asleep around lunchtime, then got up in the afternoon and felt like watching some Office. Instead of downloading more HD episodes on Xbox Live I figured I would just see what free episodes they had on the NBC website.
They have four episodes, in no particular order. I watched one where Michael was getting in debt because Jan was spending all his money, so he had to take up a second job as a telemarketer. He just told her he was going to a stand-up comedy club and so Jan was oblivious to his money problems and everything. Normally the show is really funny but this particular episode was frightening for me... I guess I'm scared of falling into a situation like that? Michael ended up trying to run away by hopping on a train at the end of the episode.
But then I watched the episode on the launch party and that was hilarious.
Oh yeah, this morning I also caught some Yu-Gi-Oh GX on TV. I think I've really been getting the YGO kick back again! But man... The original YGO series may not have been a masterpiece or anything, but I watched a ton of that. Yet somehow I never could get into YGO GX... and it didn't help that a lot of the cards that came out alongside that show were just really, REALLY unappealing. I mean, they kept building on themes that NOBODY really liked!! But now, the new YGO 5D's series is coming out in America soon, and as stupid as card dueling on motorcycles sounds, I'm actually kind of interested.
I've mentioned I'm interested in the new game mechanic introduced in the newest set of cards, "Synchro" monsters. I haven't been this excited about a new game mechanic in such a long time! I mean, the YGO card game is far from perfect, with tons of balance issues, but in the end it's still a pretty fun game. Synchro monsters seem to be taking two old mechanics, Fusion monsters and Ritual monsters, and taking elements from both to make things less retarded. I was actually kind of impressed with the thought they seemed to put into this... There's less chance of "dead draw" (cards useless in your current situation), it's easier to perform, and the rewards are good enough to make attempting to use Synchro monsters worth the effort but it's also not so terrible if the opponent manages to counter them.
And did you know you can vote for the theme song to use for the English version???

Collecting cards seems kind of dumb since I have no one nearby to play with. But hey, there's always good old AIM duels like in the old days! None of the current video games will work with these new cards, although YGO Tag Force 3 for the PSP is supposed to include some Synchro monsters (even though the story will be based on YGO GX and not YGO 5D's). But then, I think the game is already out in Japan but we have no release date for North America... which is a little weird since Tag Force 2 actually came out in America first somehow!!!
I was planning to get more stuff done today... But didn't really...
